We build software that serious work depends on.

SXR is a UK technology company that designs, builds, and runs the software and digital systems organisations cannot afford to have fail — and stays accountable for them long after launch.

01 — Position

Most software is delivered and forgotten. We treat what we build as infrastructure.

A system is only worth building if it can be understood, maintained, and trusted years after the first release.

That principle shapes every decision we make — from the technologies we choose to the way we hand work over.

We work with a deliberately small number of organisations at a time. It means the people who scope a project are the people who build it, and the people who build it are still reachable when something needs to change.

No layers, no account managers relaying messages, no disappearing when the invoice clears.

02 — Values

Three principles we don't compromise on, whatever the project.

V-01

Extraordinary value for money

We measure ourselves on outcome per pound, not hours billed — scoping honestly, building only what earns its place, and delivering work that keeps paying back long after the invoice is settled. Not the cheapest option; the one that's worth the most.

V-02

Transparency & openness

No hidden costs, no black boxes, no jargon used to obscure. You see what we're doing and why, in plain terms — including when something is harder, slower, or dearer than hoped. We'd rather have the difficult conversation early than the awkward one late.

V-03

Continuous innovation

We keep learning, questioning, and improving — not chasing novelty for its own sake, but always looking for a better way to solve the problem in front of us. What we build for you today should be sharper than what we'd have built a year ago.

03 — Capabilities

One team, across the full life of a system — from first idea to the years it runs in production.

C-01

Product & Application Engineering

Web and platform applications built to last, from the first line of code to a dependable production release.

C-02

Systems & Integration

Connecting the tools, data, and services an organisation already relies on into one coherent whole.

C-03

Data & Analytics

Turning operational data into information people can actually act on, with reporting they trust.

C-04

Cloud & Infrastructure

Reliable, observable environments that stay up, stay secure, and stay affordable as you grow.

C-05

Digital Modernisation

Replacing legacy processes and ageing software without breaking the business built around them.

C-06

Advisory & Delivery

Technical direction and hands-on delivery from the same team, so decisions and outcomes stay joined up.

04 — Approach

A straight line from understanding the work to being accountable for it.

01

Understand

We learn the work before we touch the code — the people, the constraints, and what success actually looks like.

02

Design

We agree the shape of the system before building it, so there are no surprises in scope, cost, or timeline.

03

Build

We ship in small, verifiable increments you can see and use, not one large reveal at the end.

04

Sustain

We stay responsible for what we deliver — maintaining, improving, and answering for it over time.

The difference
We would rather build one thing properly than ten things quickly.

It is why our clients come back — and why they introduce us to the people they trust.

05 — Accreditations & standards

We publish what we hold, and we're honest about what's still in progress.

Some of what follows we've been formally recognised for; the rest we're actively working toward. We show which is which, and we don't claim a standard until it's independently awarded.

06 — Sustainability

Technology has a footprint. We work to keep ours small — and shrinking.

These are commitments, not slogans. They shape how we run the company, choose suppliers, build software, and treat the people who do the work. Expand any one to see what it means in practice.

S-01 Low-footprint operations Remote-first, minimal physical infrastructure.

We run as a remote-first company with deliberately little physical infrastructure. The largest environmental cost of most software firms is offices, commuting, and always-on hardware — so we keep all three to a minimum by design rather than as an afterthought.

  • Remote-first working, with travel only where it genuinely adds value
  • Cloud infrastructure sized to demand, not left running idle
  • Equipment kept in service for its full useful life
S-02 Efficient, responsible software Building for performance, not waste.

Inefficient software wastes energy at scale — every unnecessary query, oversized server, and redundant process has a real-world cost. We treat efficiency as part of doing the job properly, not an optional extra.

  • Right-sizing infrastructure and switching off what isn't needed
  • Writing for performance so systems do more with less compute
  • Favouring providers with credible renewable-energy commitments
S-03 Hardware & e-waste Refurbished-first, responsibly retired.

Electronics are among the most resource-intensive things a company buys. We buy less, keep it longer, and make sure nothing ends up in landfill when its life with us is over.

  • Refurbished or repaired before new, wherever practical
  • Devices maintained and reused across their full lifespan
  • Responsible recycling or certified data-safe disposal at end of life
S-04 Responsible procurement Choosing suppliers on more than price.

Much of any company's footprint sits in its supply chain. When we choose partners and suppliers, environmental and labour standards count alongside cost and quality.

  • Preference for suppliers with credible environmental credentials
  • Fair, prompt payment to the smaller businesses we work with
  • Sourcing closer to home where it reduces impact
S-05 Fair, sustainable work Sustainability includes people.

A company isn't sustainable if the way it works burns people out. We treat fair pay, realistic workloads, and wellbeing as part of the same commitment — not a separate HR line item.

  • Fair pay and honest, realistic project timelines
  • Flexible working that fits around real lives
  • Investment in the skills of the people who do the work
S-06 Measure and improve Honest reporting over green gloss.

Commitments mean little without measurement. We'd rather show modest, honest progress than make claims we can't stand behind — and we improve on what we track each year.

  • Tracking the impacts we can genuinely measure
  • Reporting progress plainly, including where we fall short
  • Setting the next year's targets against the last
